Acupuncture (China): Chinese system of medicine through the use of needles in specific zones of the body. Derived from the belief system of yoga.
Aikido (Japanese): Martial art of Japanese origin, developed in the 20th century.
Astral Travel: A state in which the energy of living beings leaves the physical body.
Bod Arts: General reference for systems and physical-psychical Arts of Ancient Himalayan origin.
Bod: Ancient region in the Himalayas.
Chakra (Sanskrit): "Wheel" or "Circle".
Chi-Kung (Chinese): Chinese system of physical and breathing exercises; derived from Kung-Fu.
Chiropracty: Therapy through a specific type of massage, directed principally to the back.
Hinayana (Sanskrit): "The minor road" A branch of Buddhist philosophy.
Judo (Japanese): Japanese system of wrestling, developed in the 19th century (of this era).
Karate (Japanese): "Empty Hand". Martial art which originated on Okinawa. Brought to China in the 6th century.
Kung-Fu (Chinese): "Ability" (Gong-fu). In general, any technique of self-defense or martial art of Chinese origin, although its real beginnings are in ancient India.
Magnetism: Universal energy that gathers all, coming especially from the physical body.
Mahayana (Sanskrit): "The great road"-A branch of Buddhist philosophy.
Maha Prana (Sanskrit): "Great Energy".
Peuyul (Tibetan): "Land of Snows" or "Land of the Gods".
Pranayama (Sanskrit): Breathing Techniques.
Reiki (Japanese): Therapy that works with energy. Originated in Japan.
Shiatsu (Japanese): Therapeutic Japanese massage.
Tai-Chi (Chinese): System of slow exercises of Chinese origin, related to Kung-Fu and Tai chi chuan, that were all developed out of Indian traditions.
Unmani (Sanskrit): Astral travel.
Vajramushti (Sanskrit): Martial art of Aryan Hindu origin (approximately 4,000 to 1,000 B.C.). Came out of "Nata", also Indian, from which all Chinese systems are devised.
Wu-Chu (Chinese): System of physical exercises and martial arts of Chinese, derived from Kung-Fu.
Yoga (Sanskrit): Literally, "Union". System of exercises originating in India, popularized by Patangali (circa 1st century B.C.).
Yuga (Sanskrit): Age, or Eon. A whole era.
Zen (Japanese): Originally Chan (Chinese), a form of Buddhist philosophy. Literally, "silence" or "meditation".
